Hellenistic Natal Astrology: A Sourcebook is a revised and greatly expanded version of a sourcebook originally prepared by Robert Schmidt for an introductory course in Hellenistic astrology taught at Kepler College by Demetra George. The Sourcebook is designed in the same attractive 6x9 format as the volumes in our new translation series. In its present typeset format, it is around 400 pages and may grow a bit longer if we decide to add some additional text. As with The Astrologer's Edition of the Hellenistic astrological texts, it will be available in both trade paperback and hardback versions.
If you are not yet a subscriber to the translation series but you have heard about the recent surge of interest in Hellenistic astrology, this sourcebook is an excellent way to get a glimpse of its riches and find out what all the excitement is about. Hellenistic Natal Astrology: A Sourcebook is more than a representative sampling of Hellenistic astrological writings. A great deal of thought has gone into the selection and arrangement of texts. Improvement over the earlier editions is threefold. First of all, the sourcebook now shows more completely the full range of the Hellenistic system, and the texts have been arranged to bring out that systematic character more dramatically. Secondly, many more Hellenistic authors are now represented than before. Finally, the texts have been selected and arranged in such a way as to bring out the questions and issues that need to be addressed in order to secure the foundations of Hellenistic astrology and restore it to the status of a fully functional practical astrology.
